Transmission Failed

"had been having ongoing problems with the car "hiccuping"..hesitating when accelerating or letting off gas, & the amps would jump around..but had had car to the shop only about 2 weeks before for this problem. kept getting what they called "phantom codes" on the check engine light. my grandson died, & i went to a store to get flowers ordered for his funeral, came back out & tried to leave BUSY parking lot..got right in the middle of a steet there & car wouldn't move. no big noises,or grinding when putting in gear,or anything...just gone. cost nearly $2,800 to replace. this is a car i had bought brand new,& had maintained it specifically to manufacturer specifications. it only had 62,000 miles on it,& wasn;t driven hard at any point. "

There Are Most Common Solutions:
  1. replace transmission
  2. not sure
  3. replace torque converter
  4. sitting in drive way trying to figure something out
  5. rebuilt the transmission replacing only failed parts
  6. scrap it!

many of tarus user complain about transmission problems ford taurus.

"I have a 00 taurus. I have just finished putting a lot of work into. While driving home the other afternoon the car just quit going...won't go anywhere in any gear. I had no indication of transmission problems before. Is it possible that the bolt in the torque could have come loose or do I need to bite the bullet on this car"
"I was driving my 2000 taurus the other day when just like you the car just quite going. I took it to a shop to see what was wrong with it. he said there was no pressure running through it so it was either the transmission pump or the torque converter. but he said that with any vehicle with over a 100,000 miles on it is is good to just go ahead and rebuild the transmission. Is this true"
